I'm going to tell you about Easter in my village. First of all, I want to say that it is one of the most moving holidays.
Palm Sunday is a very interesting day, above all, for children. I still remember when a lot of years ago all children joined us in the park of the village (called 'El Pilar') and each one took a Palm to bless it. Then, there was a procession.
On Maundy Thursday in the evening, there's a mass where people go to wash their feet. It is a tradiction, althought I never do it. At night, the 'Calvary's proccession' takes place.
On Good Friday morning, there is a Via Crucis. At night, to me, it is the most moving moment of all, but also the saddest. One of the things that I most like is the moment when a woman sings a dirge, it's amazing, You can even cry with emotion. That happens during the procession called 'The Silent Procession'. Also, this night, some women wear Mantilla-ed widows, ornamental combs and a black dresses. Other people are nazarenes and wear robes and pointed hoods. And, the best of all is the Music band, because they aren't a typical band, they are a drums and bugles band.
Easter Sunday is very cheerful, because it is when Jesus Christ meets the Virgin. This procession is also very beautiful and moving. On this day, every year, if I can, I like carrying the image of the Virgin on my shoulders.
To conclude, I must said that since some years ago, I always go to Hellin to play the drum, because I love it, but I never forget Easter in my village, Ferez.
